NOT the neighbor.ĪND I expect Hollister city council to fight for it just as hard. This article uses bare URLs, which are uninformative and vulnerable to link rot. I want my city council to watch out for my town. We had several out there say things like "why fight for the development, hollister needs tax income too" Sorry, I think the two need to fight for every developent they can get if it is a good development. Yep, some of our leaders appear to believe in a one county world economy. For example, Branson's competing to land the development that became Branson Hills rather than letting it go to Hollister didn't engender friendship with Hollister, but it was in Branson's best interest to protect its own economic turf. While it is important to have good relations with others, if you stand up for Branson on an important issue then you will risk upsetting others. The county has itself pursued very little in the way of economic development while constantly complaining about Branson Landing, Branson Hills, etc. Branson's contributions to the county's budget pays for almost everything else throughout the whole county. The commissioners have for many years taken the big tax money from Branson for granted. What is important is to remember is that the county hasn't always been Branson's friend. Not too sure he would have been met with any welcome smiles. Negotiating a real estate deal in public forum was a bad idea, it did set the whole process of negotiation into a tailspin. I am not sure he could have made a deal with the old group, he really POed the whole group. Wish I could just tell my story, but I can't. Yes it is possible, I just wanted to shed the little light I am able to. Between the independent audit and the Senate work, how much has the new administration spent trying to investigate the work of the pre-April, 2007 administration? The Senate Hospitality issue is very interesting. Pennel waited until after April, 2007 so that a friendlier administration would be in office? If he waited until after April, 2007, then he may have his own undisclosed reasons, but it would be interesting if it was because a friendly Mayor would be in office then. I honestly did not think they could or should. I don't know- it it possible they can spend that much without a bid process and without a vote. We have all heard the results, but my question is, when did the RFP or public bid for that service get posted and when did the whole City Council vote to approve spending that much money. The finance committee hired Sennat (sp) Hospitality to the tune of $14,500 plus expenses for a weak long investigation. Can't this time, but I am still watching for another opportunity. ![]() Like I said, i would love to be able to yell foul. Due to confidentiality (not with the city) I can't get into details, but the seller side caused the timing to be what it was.
